🔗 Connect Account

Connect your MT4/MT5 trading accounts to the Ekan Trade bot.

Connecting your trading account is the crucial first step to unlocking the power of automated trading with Ekan Trade! 🚀 This guide will walk you through every field in the connection form, ensuring you understand exactly what each piece of information does and why it's important.

📝 Before You Begin

Make sure you have the following information ready from your broker:

  • ✅ Your MT4/MT5 account number
  • ✅ The broker's server address
  • ✅ Your master password (not the investor password)
Where to Find This Information

Check your broker's welcome email or log into your broker's client portal. Most brokers provide these details in your account dashboard or initial registration confirmation.

🔢 Account Number

Function: Enter your broker's MT4/MT5 account number.

Your account number is the unique identifier that your broker assigns to your trading account. This is how Ekan Trade identifies which specific account to connect to and execute trades on.

What You Need to Know:

  • 📍 Format: Typically a numeric string (e.g., 12345678 or 500123456)
  • 🔍 Where to Find: Check your MT4/MT5 terminal's Navigator panel, or your broker's welcome email
  • ⚠️ Common Mistake: Don't confuse this with your broker's client portal login

Step-by-Step:

  1. Open your MT4/MT5 trading terminal
  2. Look at the top of the Navigator panel (left sidebar)
  3. Your account number appears next to your account name
  4. Enter this number exactly as shown — no spaces or dashes
Quick Check

The account number you enter should match exactly what you see when you log into your MT4/MT5 terminal. If the bot fails to connect, double-check this field first.

💻 Trading Platform

Function: Select MT4 or MT5.

Ekan Trade supports both MetaTrader 4 and MetaTrader 5 platforms, and our bot is optimized to work seamlessly with either version. Selecting the correct platform ensures the bot uses the right communication protocol for your account.

Understanding the Difference:

FeatureMT4MT5
🕐 Release20052010
📊 MarketsPrimarily ForexForex, Stocks, Futures
🔧 ComplexitySimplerMore advanced
👥 User BaseLargerGrowing

How to Identify Your Platform:

  • MT4 Users: Your terminal window title says "MetaTrader 4"
  • MT5 Users: Your terminal window title says "MetaTrader 5"
  • Still Unsure? Check with your broker — they'll confirm which platform your account uses

Why Correct Selection Matters:

  • The bot adapts its trading algorithms to your platform's specific capabilities
  • MT4 and MT5 have different order types and execution methods
  • Selecting the wrong platform will cause connection failures
Important

MT4 and MT5 accounts are not interchangeable. If your broker offers both, make sure you're entering credentials for the correct platform type.

🌐 Broker Server

Function: Enter your broker's server address.

The broker server is the specific trading server that your account is registered on. Brokers often have multiple servers (e.g., for different regions or account types), so entering the correct server address is essential for successful connection.

What You Need to Know:

  • 📍 Format: Usually looks like "BrokerName-Server01" or "BrokerName-Live2"
  • 🔍 Where to Find: Displayed in your MT4/MT5 terminal's Account Properties or connection dialog
  • 🌍 Multiple Servers: Your broker may have different servers for demo vs. live accounts

How to Find Your Server Address:

Method 1: From MT4/MT5 Terminal

  1. Go to File → Login to Trade Account
  2. The server dropdown shows all available servers
  3. Note the server name that's currently selected

Method 2: From Broker Email

  1. Check your account opening confirmation email
  2. Server details are typically listed with your credentials

Method 3: Contact Support

  1. Reach out to your broker's support team
  2. Ask for the exact server address for your account number

Common Server Formats:

Broker TypeExample Server
🏢 Major BrokerICMarkets-Live07
🌍 RegionalFXOpen-ECN
📊 Prop FirmFTMO-Server1
Pro Tip

If your broker has migrated servers or you've been moved to a new server, your old credentials might not work. Always verify the server address if you experience connection issues.

🔐 Password (Master)

Function: Secure connection to your account for trading access.

The Master Password is your trading password that grants full access to execute trades on your account. This is different from the Investor (read-only) password and is required for the bot to place, modify, and close trades on your behalf.

Understanding Password Types:

Password TypeAccess LevelBot Compatible
🔑 Master PasswordFull Trading Access✅ Required
👁️ Investor PasswordRead-Only❌ Won't Work
🔒 Portal PasswordBroker Website Only❌ Wrong Type

Security Measures:

  • 🔒 Encryption: Your password is encrypted using industry-standard protocols
  • 🛡️ Secure Storage: Credentials are stored securely and never shared
  • 🚫 Limited Access: Password is only used for trading — never for withdrawals
  • ✅ Best Practice: Use a unique, strong password for your trading account

Why Master Password is Required:

  • Placing new trades requires full account access
  • Modifying stop loss and take profit levels
  • Closing positions when the bot's algorithm signals
  • Managing pending orders
Security Note

Never share your master password with anyone except through secure, official channels. Ekan Trade will never ask for your password via email or chat.

What If I Use the Wrong Password?

  • Investor Password: Connection will succeed, but trades will fail to execute
  • Wrong Password: Connection will be rejected with an authentication error
  • Expired Password: Some brokers require periodic password changes — update your settings if this happens

✅ Connection Process

After entering all details correctly, here's what happens:

1. 🔍 Validation → Bot checks field formats
2. 🌐 Connection → Attempt to reach broker server
3. 🔐 Authentication → Verify credentials
4. ✅ Confirmation → Green status on Dashboard

Successful Connection Indicators:

  • ✅ Green status badge on your Dashboard
  • ✅ Account balance appears in your portfolio
  • ✅ Bot status shows "Ready" or "Active"

If Connection Fails:

  1. Double-check all entered information
  2. Verify your trading platform is correct (MT4 vs MT5)
  3. Confirm the broker server address is accurate
  4. Ensure you're using the Master password (not Investor)
  5. Check if your broker requires any additional steps (like IP whitelisting)
